Introduced in 1947, the Kaiser was a family of cars built by Kaiser-Frazer. Alongside the upmarket Frazer, the Kaiser was positioned as a more economical series of cars. The Kaiser was available in two or four door sedan body styles, as well as a hatchback version known as the Traveler. Power came from a 226ci (3.7L) inline six engine that sent power to the rear wheels via manual or automatic transmission options. Over the course of production, the Kaiser was offered in a range of trim levels such as the Special and Deluxe. A trim level known as the Dragon was offered on the Kaiser before becoming its own model, the Kaiser Dragon. In 1952, Kaiser-Frazer was renamed the Kaiser Motors Corporation, as Joseph W Frazer had left the company. This resulted in the movement of the famed Manhattan name from the Frazer Manhattan to the Kaiser Manhattan. Production of the Kaiser lasted until 1955, when Kaiser Motors Corporation ended automotive production in the United States.
