In modern times, when the name Lamborghini is mentioned, thoughts of dramatic and powerful supercars are conjured. Yet, before the famed Italian brand became synonymous with supercars, Lamborghini was known for it's tractors. From small beginnings in 1948, Lamborghini Trattori (Lamborghini Tractors) became a successful and well regarded tractor maker, with models such as the 1R, 2R, and DL. These tractors were available in rear wheel drive and all wheel drive, as well as various configurations depending on the required use. Due to the success of Lamborghini Tractors, the owner of Lamborghini, Ferruccio Lamborghini was able to buy a wide range of high end sports cars, including a few Ferraris. Upset with his perceived lack of quality with Ferrari's clutch, Lamborghini took apart his Ferrari's transmission only to find the clutch was the same he was using in his tractors. This led to a famous argument between Enzo Ferrari and Ferruccio Lamborghini in which Ferrari told Lamborghini he knew nothing of high performance cars, only for Lamborghini to become irate, and to promise that he could build a better car than Ferrari. The rest, as they say, is history. Importantly, even after changing the worldwide supercar landscape, Lamborghini continues tractor production to this day.
