The Lotus Elan is the name of a series of sports cars built by Lotus and first introduced in 1962. The First Generation of Lotus Elan consists of two or four seat, front engined, rear wheel drive sports cars. The later series of cars were known as the M100 Elan, and were front engined, front wheel drive sports cars introduced in 1989.
