The Lotus Esprit Series 2 was introduced in 1978. The S2 received numerous small design updates from the previous generation, including a revised front spoiler, engine cooling intake ducts, and new taillights. The Series 2 Esprit retained the 2.0L inline four engine from the previous generation. Production of the S2 Esprit ended in 1981 when it was replaced by the Lotus Esprit Series 3.
