The Maserati GranTurismo MC Coupe debuted for the 2012 model year. This high performance version of the GranTurismo featured improvements over the standard model including a 110kg reduction in curb weight, upgraded brakes and suspension, and various aerodynamic updates. Notably, the MC, which was referred to as the MC Stradale outside of North America, was equipped with a more powerful version of the 'F136 Y' V8 engine. This 4.7L powerplant had an output of 444hp that was sent to the rear wheels via a 6 speed automatic transmission. North American Gran Turismo MCs were equipped with a fully automatic 6 speed gearbox, but foreign market examples were fitted with the 'MC Race Shift' 6 speed automated manual. Production of the GranTurismo MC Coupe ended in 2013, but a convertible version known as the GranTurismo MC Convertible was introduced in 2013.
