For the 1999 model year, Mazda introduced the MX-5 Miata 10th Anniversary Edition (a/k/a 10AM or 10AE), a limited production variant of the 2nd Generation (NB) Miata, featuring some until-then exclusive features, namely a 6-speed manual transmission, Bilstein shock absorbers, 15 inch polished aluminum wheels, and a Torsen limited-slip differential. All 10AE samples were painted sapphire blue mica (called innocent blue in Japan) and featured two-toned black leather and blue alcantara seats and floor mats, and a matching 3-spoke Nardi leather wrapped steering wheel. Although it was powered by the same 1.8-liter inline four engine found in the standard model - the BP-4W - the 10th Anniversary model was slightly faster than its contemporaneous siblings.
