The 220 S sedan featured Mercedes' M180.941 engine, which was a carbureted 2.2L inline six that generated 108hp. Power from this engine was sent to the rear wheels via manual or automatic transmission options. A total of 161,119 examples of the W111 220S sedan were built before it was replaced by the Mercedes-Benz 230S Sedan in 1965.
