The second generation of Mercury Monterey was introduced for the 1955 model year. The second generation of Monterey saw the model moved to the middle of the Mercury range after the introduction of the Mercury Montclair. Trim levels included the entry level Custom and Medalist options. This updated generation of Monterey was offered as a sedan coupe, station wagon, or convertible, and was available with a 4.8L or 5.1L V8 engine. Production of the second generation Monterey ended in 1956, with the unveiling of the Third Generation Mercury Monterey.
