The Morgan 4/4 was a series of sports cars introduced in 1936. The first generation of 4/4 is known as the Series I, and was the first time Morgan had produced a four wheel vehicle. The 4/4 was named not only for its four wheels, but the four cylinders of its engine. For the first years of production, the 4/4 was fitted with a 1.1L inline four unit, but in 1939, Morgan began using a slightly more powerful 1.2L inline four engine. Morgan offered the 4/4 in two seat roadster, four seat roadster, and rare drophead coupe body styles. A total of 1,720 examples of the Series I 4/4 were built before production ended in 1950. Morgan replaced the Series I with the 4/4 Series II.
