The Cedric was created to be an upscale model for Nissan, and over the course of production it was offered in sedan, coupe, and station wagon body styles. Nissan built the Cedric in ten generations: 30 (1961-1965), 130 (1966-1971), 230 (1972-1975), 330 (1976-1979), 430 (1980-1983), Y30 (1984-1987), Y31 (1988-1991), Y32 (1992-1995), Y33 (1996-1999), Y34 (2000-2004). These generations were all offered as rear wheel drive cars, except for the Y34, which had optional all wheel drive. Civilian production of the Nissan Cedric ended in 2004, but the Y31 generation sedan was built until 2015 due to use as a fleet and taxi vehicle.
