The Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec I was a variant of the R34 GT-R that was introduced in 1999. The V-Spec I (which was short for Victory Specification), featured a range of mechnical and aesthetic upgrades over the standard Base GT-R. Notably, the V-Spec I featured Nissan's ATTESA E-RS Pro all wheel drive system, as well as an active limited-slip differential. Additional upgrades included a stiffer suspension, a rear diffuser, and front and side splitters. Power came from the 2.6L RB26DETT twin-turbo inline six engine which was paired to a 6 speed manual transmission. Production of the R34 GT-R V-Spec I ended in 2000, when it was replaced by the R34 Skyline GT-R V-Spec II. A total of 4,289 examples of the R34 GT-R V-Spec I were built, including 81 UK market examples, 10 Hong Kong market examples, 10 Singapore market examples, and 5 New Zealand market examples.
