The Peugeot 406 was a series of large family cars that entered production for the 1996 model year. The 406 replaced the Peugeot 405 and was offered in sedan, station wagon, and coupe body styles. These front wheel drive cars were powered by a range of inline four and V6 engines which were paired to manual or automatic transmissions. Production of the Peugeot 406 lasted until 2008, when it was replaced by the Peugeot 407.
