The base model Porsche 718 Boxster (convertible) was introduced for the 2017 model year, as part of the new 982-generation. As with its sibling, the base 718 Cayman, the base model 718 Boxster was powered by a 2.0 liter horizontally-opposed flat-4 turbocharged engine, capable of 296 hp, sending power to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual or 7-speed PDK (automatic) transmission.
