The Rambler American was a series of compact cars introduced for the 1958 model year. The American was designed to be an inexpensive model, and often during its lifespan, it was the least expensive American car. A wide range of body styles were offered, including sedan, station wagon, and convertible, as well as a selection of inline six and V8 engines. Production of the Rambler American took place in three generations: 1st Gen (1958-1960), 2nd Gen (1961-1963), and 3rd Gen (1964-1969). For 1969, the last year of production, the Rambler American was renamed American Motors Rambler, and featured the notable AMC Hurst SC/Rambler performance variant.
