The Studebaker R-Series was a family of trucks that was introduced for the 1949 model year. The R-Series succeeded the Studebaker M-Series, and featured new, more modern styling than its predecessor. Two of the most popular variants were the 1/2-ton 2R5, and the 3/4-ton 2R10. These rear wheel drive trucks were powered by 2.8L inline six engine, although the larger 1 ton, 1-1/2 ton, and 2 ton variants received greater displacement inline six engines. Towards the end of production, Studebaker introduced a 3.8L V8 engine which was exclusive to the 2R28 1-1/2 ton export model. Production of the Studebaker R-Series trucks lasted until 1954, when they were replaced by the Studebaker E-Series trucks.
