The Suzuki Vitara is a series of SUVs that was first introduced for the 1989 model year. The Vitara has been sold under many names during its production, including Grand Vitara, Sidekick, and Escudo. These names generally vary depending on the respective domestic market (Sidekick was used exclusively in US market). Over the course of production, the Vitara has been built in four generations, and has featured a wide range of inline three, inline four, and V6 engine options. Both manual and automatic transmissions have been available, as well as front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, and all wheel drive variants.
