Beginning with the 2008 model year, Toyota manufactured specially equipped FJ Cruisers designated as the Trail Teams Special Edition, which featured many of the same Toyota Racing Development (TRD) options included on the 2007-only TRD Special Edition. The Trail Teams Special Edition (TTE) was equipped with BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires, as well as TRD/Trail Teams Bilstein shocks, and other similar options found on the TRD model. For each model year, the Trail Teams Special Edition is painted in one distinct color. Between 2008 and 2013, approximately 12,000 FJ Cruiser TTE's were produced although there was no TTE for model year 2009. For model year 2014, the TTE would be called the Trail Teams Ultimate Edition (TTUE), and it would be the final year of production for the United States.
