The 3rd Gen Toyota HiAce was introduced for the 1982 model year as a van available in different model series such as 50 for the Short wheel base, 60 for the long wheel base and 70 for the super long wheel base. In 1985 a 2 door pickup model was introduced as the 80 or 90 model series. A new diesel engine was also introduced in the 3rd Gen of the Toyota HiAce, which was 2.4L I4. Available with a 4 or 5 speed manual gearbox or a 4 speed automatic gearbox it was still offered with rear wheel drive or four wheel drive options. The 3rd Gen was replaced in 1989 by the 4th Gen H100 but the 3rd continued its production until 2007 only for South Africa.
