The Hilux Surf N180 was introduced by Toyota in 1995 as the models 3rd Gen. It represented a significant evolution with a more modern, robust and aerodynamic 5-door SUV body. This generation incorporated independent front suspension and improvements in safety and comfort, without losing its off-road capability. It was available with gasoline engines such as the 2.7L 3RZ-FE and the 3.4L V6 5VZ-FE, as well as diesel engines such as the 3.0L 1KZ-TE turbodiesel and the 3.0L 1KD-FTV. Transmissions included 5-speed manuals and 4-speed automatics, with rear-wheel drive or selectable all-wheel drive. Versions such as the SSR-X, SSR-G and SSR-V were offered, with advanced equipment for the Japanese market such as automatic climate control, digital compass, adjustable suspension and widebody versions. The Hilux Surf N180 was produced until 2002.
