For the 2007 model year, Toyota introduced the second generation of Tundra. In comparison to the 1st Gen Tundra, these updated trucks were a significant leap forward. Cabin capacity was enlarged for all variants which included the Regular Cab (2-doors), Double Cab (4-doors), and CrewMax (4-doors), and were available in different bed lengths. A newly designed 5.7L V8 (3UR-FE)  accompanied it as the most common and powerful available engine. The smaller 4.6L and 4.7L V8s and the 4.0L V6 were also made available. Apart from the more common SR5 and Limited trim, Toyota offered an opulent set of options called the Platinum package and a more focused off-road package called the TRD Rock Warrior, among others. In 2014, the Regular Cab was eliminated, and a new external facelift was introduced which would remain in place until the conclusion of this generation in 2021. In 2022, Toyota extended the Tundra's life for a third generation.
