The Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI was a variant of the 1st Gen Touareg powered by a 5.0L V10 Turbodiesel engine that struggled to comply with emission regulations in North America to be approved for sale. After being temporarily off the market for almost 2 years, this very sought after SUV returned in 2006 in five states. The 5.0L V10 Touareg was later cancelled in 2008 forcing to be replaced by a V6 TDI engine for the 2009 model year. This wolf in lambs clothing was used by the British automotive show Fifth Gear to tow a Boeing 747.
