The 2nd Gen Chevelle Standard Variants began in 1968 and progressed through 1972. The Chevelle 300 actually expanded with the deluxe series and you could now order a SS-396 from the base platform, although 1969 would the last year for the 300 Deluxe (except for Canada). 1970 introduced wagon buyers to the Chevelle Concours/ Concours Estate, the Chevelle Greenbriar, and the Nomad namplate returned but this time as the base 4 door Chevelle wagon only. For 1971 and 1972 while Chevrolet offered a 350 V8 in the SS, they also introduced the budget friendly Heavy Chevy model, which was a stripped down 2 door hardtop, that could be ordered with any V8 except the 454. The Chevelle would continue with revisions and new model offerings in the 3rd Gen.
