The second generation of Chevrolet Malibu was introduced for the 1968 model year. This new generation of Malibu saw the name remain as the Chevelle's top trim level, and was offered in updated sedan, hardtop, and convertible body styles. These new body styles featured a sleeker, slightly less angular design, and were powered by a range of inline six and V8 engines. Production of the second generation Malibu continued until 1972, when it was replaced by the Third Generation Chevrolet Malibu.
