The Daimler Sovereign was a series of luxury cars that was first introduced for the 1967 model year. Throughout the majority of its production, the Sovereign was largely a badge-engineered version of the Jaguar XJ, but with a higher level of luxury. Originally, the Sovereign was introduced as a more upscale version the Jaguar 420, which was a renamed version of the Jaguar Mark X. For the 1969 model year, the Sovereign became part of the XJ family, where it would remain until it was discontinued in 1994. Although for the majority of its life, the Sovereign was offered as a four door sedan, a two door coupe version was sold from 1975 until 1978.
