The Ford Courier was first introduced for the 1952 model year. When it debuted, the Courier name was used for a series of sedan delivery cars based on Ford's full size models. The First Generation Courier was built until 1960, and the name was dormant until 1972, when Ford began to sell a series of compact pickup trucks based on the Mazda B-Series for the North American market. This Second Generation Courier was sold in North America until 1982, when it was replaced by the Ford Ranger. The Courier pickup has remained in production for a variety of foreign markets such as Australia.
