The 1999 to 2004 Ford Mustang GT was the successor to the SN-95 Ford Mustang GT. It was a variant of the so called "SN-99" or "New Edge" Fourth Generation Mustang, and featured unique styling and performance. A convertible and coupe were the two body styles available. Exterior features for the GT included 16-inch cast-aluminum wheels, lower valance integrated fog lamps, and a single rear wing spoiler. The interior was offered in either cloth and leather seat upholstery, and with a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The 4.6L SOHC V8 engine produced 260hp and 302 lb ft of torque, which was sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. Handling benefited from longer control arms, new 5-lug spindles, anti-roll bars, and chassis stiffening. Some notable GT variants included the 35th Anniversary (1999), the Centennial Edition (2003), and the 40th Anniversary (2004) trims. Production of the SN-99 Ford Mustang GT ended in 2004, when Ford introduced the Fifth Generation Mustang.
