The Messerschmitt Kabinenroller was a family of microcars introduced in 1953. Messerschmitt was a German aircraft company, but it was banned from building planes after WW2. This made the company turn its attention to car making, eventually releasing the Kabinenroller (Cabin Scooter). These cars were three wheelers, featuring two front wheels and one driven rear wheel, and over the course of production, were offered in bubble-top, convertible, and roadster body styles. In 1961, Messerschmitt was able to return to aircraft production, leading the company to sell the rights to FMR, a company started by Fritz Fend, the man who designed the Kabinenroller. This company continued to build the car under the Messerschmitt brand, with three main variants made: the KR175, the KR200, and the KR201 Roadster. Eventually FMR released a sport four wheeler based on the Kabinenroller called the TG500. Production of the Messerschmitt Kabinenroller lasted until 1964.
