The Evolution IV was the fourth iteration of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. The Evo IV was introduced in 1996 and was offered as a performance focused all wheel drive sedan. Two variants were available, the RS (Rally Sport) which was a lightened and more focused version, and the GSR (Gran Sport Racing) which was more well appointed and featured a raft of standard options. Both versions were powered by a 2.0L turbocharged inline four engine producing 276hp. The Evo IV featured more aggressive styling, and featured distinctive front fog lights (optional for the RS), as well as redesigned taillights. Only 9000 examples were produced, with the majority being GSR models before the Evo IV was discontinued in 1998, and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V was introduced.
