The fifth iteration of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was known as the Evolution V and was introduced in 1998. Like its predecessors, the Evo V was offered as a performance focused all wheel drive sedan. The Evo V received a raft of updates to its styling as well its mechanicals. While the 2.0L turbocharged inline four was retained, improvements gave the engine more torque than before. The Evolution V was mainly offered in the Japanese market, although grey imports exists around the world. Total production of the Evo V was 7500 examples before being discontinued in 1999. It was replaced by the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI.
