The sixth generation of Rolls-Royce Phantom was introduced in 1968. Known as the Phantom VI, the sixth gen Phantom was largely offered as a limousine although coachbuilt examples in other body styles were also produced. The Phantom VI was a very low production model, and even though its production life lasted 22 years, only 374 Phantom VI cars were made. From 1968 until 1978, the Phantom VI was fitted with a 6.2L V8 engine, and from 1978 until 1990 the Phantom VI was fitted with a 6.75L V8. Production of the Phantom VI ended in 1990, but the final example was delivered in 1992. The Phantom name lay dormant for over a decade until the Rolls-Royce Phantom VII was introduced.
