The Aston Martin DB4 Base Model was built from 1958 until 1963. During that time, five distinct series were created, each with its own unique features. Series I cars are the original production models and were built until early 1960. Series II cars were produced from early 1960 until mid 1961 and featured more interior space, a lower ride height and frames around the door windows. Series III cars were only built in the middle of 1961 and featured minor changes such as a modified handbrake, an updated stalk switch, and restyled taillights. Series IV cars were built in Coupe and Convertible form from late 1961 until late 1961 and are distinguishable by their lower bonnet scoop and new grill. The Series IV cars also saw the introduction of a high performance Vantage model. The last series of DB4s made, the Series V was built in Coupe and Convertible body styles from late 1962 until production ended in mid 1963. These Series V cars were notable for their longer body and higher roof, although the height of the car was unchanged due to the use of smaller wheels. A convertible version of the DB4 was also introduced in late 1961, although produced in subtsantially smaller numbers than the coupes.
