The Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato Sanctions were a limited run of cars introduced in 1988. The Sanction GT Zagatos were cars built using unused chassis that had been built for the original run of DB4 GT Zagato production. With the approval of Aston Martin, these chassis were built and sent to Zagato to be bodied like the originals. These four cars were called the Sanction II's, and although externally the same, mechanically, they were given an uprated 4.2L inline six, as well as other mechanical improvements. The four Sanction II cars were finished by 1991, but in 2000, two DB4 GT Zagato body shells which were left over from Sanction II production got approval from Aston to create two more DB4 GTs, with these two examples called the Sanction III. Famed Aston Martin restorer R.S. Williams managed the project, which saw DB4 GT Zagato production reach 6 total examples.
