For the 2016 model year, Aston Martin introduced the Vantage GT12. As one of the special editions offered for the V12 Vantage, the GT12 was created as a road going version of the Vantage GT3 race car. These cars were fitted with an uprated version of Aston's AM28 engine that was known as the AM57. This 5.9L V12 generated 592hp and 461 lb ft of torque, which was sent to the rear wheels via Aston's 7 speed Sportshift III automated manual transmission. The GT12 also features bodywork and trim exclusive to the variant, including a distinctive "horseshoe" air intake on the bonnet. Only 100 examples of the Aston Martin GT12 were produced for the 2016 model year, although Aston would later introduced a GT8 version based on the V8 Vantage due to the success of the GT12.
