The C1 Motorrad was introduced in 2000 by BMW. It is a scooter equipped with a liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine, available in two displacements: 124cc and 176cc, both with SOHC valve trains. It uses a CVT automatic transmission with belt driven rear wheel drive designed for comfortable and easy urban use. Versions included the C1 125, the C1 200 and the Executive variants, which offered enhanced comfort features. The most notable aspect of the model is its unique safety concept, featuring a rigid cell-type structure, roof, roll bars, seatbelts and a fixed seat, which allowed it to be ridden without a helmet in many countries. The BMW C1 was produced until 2003.
