BMW R100GS (1987 to 1994)

The BMW R100GS was a series of dual sport motorcycles that were introduced in 1987. These motorcycles were part of the BMW GS family of motorcycles, which were designed to be capable on and off the road. The R100GS was powered by a 980cc horizontally-opposed twin engine that generated 60hp. This power drove the rear wheel through a five speed transmission that connected to the rear wheel via a driveshaft. A variant of the R100GS inspired by the famous Paris-Dakar rally was also offered, with these motorcycles known as the R100GS Paris-Dakar. Production of the BMW R100GS lasted until 1994.
