The third generation Buick Skylark was introduced for the 1975 model year after a two year hiatus. The third generation of Skylark saw the model downsized, and offered in fewer body styles. This new generation was available as a sedan, coupe, or hatchback, and was offered with V6 and V8 engine options. Production of the third generation Skylark continued until 1975, when it was replaced by the Fourth Generation Buick Skylark.
