Chevrolet Chevy II / Nova - 4th Gen (1973 to 1974)

The 1973-1974 Chevrolet Nova, often referred to as the 4th Gen Nova, was still the entry economical car for the brand. Government mandates of 5mph crash bumpers played a major factor in Chevrolet making a re-design to the body. The wheel base would remain the same, but the new bumpers and facelift would add 100 lbs to the curb weight. A 250ci 6 cylinder with 100hp was the base engine, with the 307 producing 115hp serving as the base V8. Gone were the days of high horsepower motors, but you could still get a 350 with 145 or 175hp. The SS was no longer a separate model, but a sport package that could added to the 2 door models for $123. A new Hatchback feature for more accessibility was introduced on the 2 door models. While the 73-74 Novas were not the fire breathing Muscle Cars of years past, the cars actually outsold previous generations.
