Chevrolet D30 - 3rd Gen (1983 to 1990)

The Chevrolet Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle (CUCV) D30 (Model 1008) pickup truck was a special series developed by GM exclusively for the U.S. government and military use. While Chevrolet was capitalizing with its 3rd generation of the C/K line of pickups and offering many more variants of tonnage and trim in 1984 they also landed a contract with the U.S. government to build a special pickup to be utilized by the U.S. Military. This D30 series truck was to be a 1 and ¼ ton truck for large payloads, and include a provision to mount (2) deck guns in the bed of the truck. To accomplish this additional gussets were used to beef up the frame as well as thick metal plates in the corners of the frame. The D30 also included dual 12- and 28-volt 100-amp charging system, brush guards, and they all came equipped with a 6.2 diesel motor, and four wheel drive.
