The Daewoo Motor Company was a South Korean automotive manufacturer that traces its roots to 1937. Originally established as National Motor, the company changed its name to Saenara Motor in 1962, before being acquired by Shinjin Industrial and being renamed Shinjin Motors until finally becoming the Daewoo Motor Company in 1983 after becoming part of the Daewoo Group. Although the company had many names and iterations, it was well known for building a variety of economical and reliable automobiles. The company remains operational today, under the ownership of Tata Motors.
