The D Series was introduced by Delage in 1915. This was a series of models designated by letters such as DE, DI, DM, DO and DR, representing different evolutions in luxury, size and performance. The DE mounted inline four engines from 2.1L up to 2.6L, aimed at light touring. The DI, one of the most popular, used a 2.1L inline four engine, with sporty variants such as the DIS and DISS, bodied in torpedo, saloon or cabriolet styles. The DM introduced an inline six engine up to 3.2L, greater luxury and variants such as the DMS and DMN. The DO was a simplified version of the DI, and the DR a refined evolution of the DM. All shared rear-wheel drive, manual transmission and were built on passenger or luxury chassis, with bodies by prestigious manufacturers such as Chapron or Letourneur & Marchand. These models consolidated Delage's reputation as a manufacturer of elegant, reliable, and highly engineered cars during the interwar period. The Delage D Series were produced until 1930, when it was replaced by the Delage D6.
