The Super Sport was introduced by Devin in 1957 as the first complete and ready to drive car of the brand. It featured a fiberglass roadster body mounted on a tubular frame of its own design, initially manufactured in Ireland and later in California, with rear-wheel drive and a 4 speed manual transmission. It was powered by a Chevrolet V8 engine that gave it performance capable of competing with elite European sports cars like Ferrari or Aston Martin, but at a fraction of their price. Its combination of lightness, power and refined aesthetics earned it acclaim both on the road and in competition, making it one of the most admired American sports cars of the late 1950s.
