The Ferrari 456M GT (M for 'modificata' or 'modified') was an evolution of the earlier 456 GT front-engined grand tourer introduced in 1998. Available until 2003, its engine remained the same, a 5.5 L (5,473.91 cc) V12 rated at 436 hp, delivering drive to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. However, changes were made to improve aerodynamics, cooling, and interior features. A total of 688 units were produced. Its automatic sibling, now the Ferrari 456M GTA, would also get the same improvements. The 456 series was replaced in 2004 by the 612 Scaglietti.
