The Ford Explorer returned for its fourth generation in 2006. This generation's improvements included redesign, both inside and out, as well as an updated V8 engine, now with 24 valves. Gone is the manual transmission option, replaced by an optional six or five-speed automatic. The fourth generation ended in 2010, with the 5th Gen Explorer debuting for 2011.
