The Saleen was introduced in 2004 as a special edition of the Ford Focus Mk1 (US), released by the tuner Saleen, known for its high-performance modifications. Based on the Focus ZX3 3-door hatchback, it featured a unique body kit, 17" wheels, a Saleen Racecraft suspension and interior upgrades. Its main feature was a factory-installed nitrous oxide injection system, which temporarily boosted the 2.0L inline four engine to around 225hp. It maintained the front-wheel drive configuration and a 5 speed manual transmission. The Ford Focus Saleen was produced until 2005.
