The SVT was introduced in 2002 as the high-performance version of the Ford Focus Mk1 (US). It was developed by the Special Vehicle Team, based on the 3 door ZX3 hatchback body, and later also on the 5 door ZX5. It featured a modified 2.0L inline four engine with variable intake, Cosworth cylinder head and specific exhaust, producing 170hp. It was paired to a 6 speed manual transmission, with front-wheel drive, four-wheel disc brakes, a sport-tuned suspension and an uprated differential. Aesthetically, it was distinguished by 17" wheels, unique bumpers and Recaro seats on some versions. The Ford Focus SVT was produced until 2004.
