The RS Mk2 was introduced in 2009 as the high-performance version of the Ford Focus Mk2 (EU). Powered by a 2.5L turbocharged inline five engine, it produced 305hp. Despite being front-wheel drive, its effective power control was achieved thanks to a Quaife limited-slip differential and a RevoKnuckle front suspension designed to minimize torque steer. Available only as a 3-door hatchback it stood out for its aggressive design, with flared wheel arches, a prominent rear spoiler, Brembo brakes and a sporty interior with Recaro seats. The Focus RS Mk2 was produced until 2011 and was replaced by the Ford Focus RS Mk3.
