The North American Mk2 Ford Focus was introduced in 2008. It was an evolution of the Focus Mk1 adapted to lower costs and local tastes, not sharing a platform with the European Mk2. It was only offered in sedan and coupe body styles, eliminating the hatchback and wagon. It was equipped with the 2.0L inline four engine, 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission and always with front-wheel drive. Although less sophisticated than its European counterpart, it was noted for its good fuel efficiency, mechanical reliability and Standard Variants, such as the Focus Coupe SES with sports suspension. The North American Mk2 Focus was produced until 2011 and was replaced by the Ford Focus Mk3.
