The Ford Mustang GT Convertible was the only open top body style offered for the 1967-1968 First Generation Ford Mustang GT. The GT Convertible was only offered with a V8 engine, with engine options varying from 1967 to 1968. 1967 GT engine options were the "C-code" (200hp two-barrel 289), the "A-code" (225hp four-barrel 289), the "K-code" (271hp four-barrel HiPo 289), and the "S-code" (325hp four-barrel 390). For 1968, GT engine options were scaled down, with the two main options being the "J-code" (230hp four-barrel 302), and the "S-code" (325hp four-barrel 390). For late 1968, Ford offered their 428 cubic inch 'Cobra Jet' V8 as part of the GT Equipment Package, with those cars being known as the 1968 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet. Transmission options included the 4 speed manual or 3 speed 'Cruise-O-Matic' automatic transmission, with both gearboxes sending drive to the rear wheels. Production of the 1967-1968 Ford Mustang GT Convertible ended with the introduction of the updated 1969 Ford Mustang GT.
