The 5th Generation of the Ford Taurus was introduced for 2008. This generation was only offered as a 4 door sedan, with standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive on some versions. It used a 6 speed automatic transmission and was powered by a 3.5L V6 engine. The available versions were SEL and Limited, with better equipment and interior finishes. The Ford Taurus X, a crossover variant based on the same platform, was also offered. The 5th Gen Taurus was produced until 2009 and was replaced by the 6th Gen Ford Taurus.
