The Hunter was introduced by Hillman in 1966. This mid-size sedan was offered in multiple versions and mechanical configurations. The base model initially had a 1.5L inline four engine, but later the option of a bigger 1.7L was available. The Deluxe variant had the same engine options, but was better equipped and with more refined details. The Gran Turismo (GT) version had the 1.7L inline four engine with double carburators and a better suspension. The most luxurious Hunter was the Grand Luxe Special (GLS), still with the same 1.7L inline four engine but now with the option of an automatic transmission and plenty of comfort improvements. The Estate (station wagon) was also built, but in significantly reduced number. The Hillman Hunter was produced until 1979.
